Diana Cittelly is an assistant professor at the Department of Pathology School of Medicine, University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, in Denver, Colorado.  She received her PhD at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston (TX, 2007) and postdoctoral training at University of Colorado, with a multidisciplinary training in cell biology and neurosciences and breast cancer.

Dr. Cittelly research program focuses on defining the interaction between the brain microenvironment and cancer cells that drive brain metastatic colonization. Specifically, her group has provided pre-clinical evidence that estrogen affects astrocytic function in the brain and, in a paracrine manner, modulates breast-to-brain metastatic activity. In collaboration with breast oncologists and neurosurgeons at University of Colorado, Dr. Cittelly has developed xenograft models (PDX) derived from brain metastases from breast cancer that retain the ability to colonize the brain at high frequencies in experimental metastasis models.
