Danijela Koppers-Lalic


Danijela Koppers-Lalic, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at the Neuro-oncology Research Group, Neurosurgery department, Amsterdam UMC, the Netherlands. Danijela’s research team focuses on small non-coding RNAs as cancer messengers, cancer-regulated RNA modifications, biomarker discovery, and diagnostic utility of liquid biopsies. She completed her PhD in immunology and virology at Leiden University, Medical Faculty (the Netherlands) and a postdoc at Cambridge University (the UK) on Herpesviruses.

Next to her academic work, Danijela is also Head of diagnostic research and co-founder of ExBiome BV. She is recipient of several research and innovation grant awards from Dutch Cancer Research Foundation, Dutch Technology Research & Development, and Amsterdam Neuroscience Alliance.

Together with prof. Wurdinger (head of pre-clinical neuro-oncology) she is currently coordinating the European Liquid Biopsy Academy (ELBA) project funded by H2020-Marie Sklodowska-Curie Action, Innovative Training Networks (ITN) program. The ELBA consortium focuses on training and education of 15 Early Stage Researchers in skills and in-depth knowledge of diagnostic applications of liquid biopsies, including the development of blood-based diagnostic tools for cancer.
